A year ago today, COVID-19 was declared a pandemic by the head of the World Health Organization. Since then, there have been both losses and successes that we have faced in all areas of our lives.
I’m sure you’ve been thinking back over the year from different perspectives. For our focus here, I invite you to reflect on how your leadership has evolved in the face of the uncertainties the pandemic presented. Here are some questions for reflection:
+ How would you describe how you lead today versus a year ago?
+ How would your colleagues describe how you’ve changed?
+ How has your organization changed under your leadership?
+ What kind of impact have you had on your people?
+ What are you most proud of and what would you like to change?
+ What have you learned about leadership and yourself as a leader over this past year?
+ How can you apply that learning for setting your course going forward?
Leaders evolve, and this year has certainly been one where that evolution was accelerated due to dealing with so many unknowns.
In January 2020, “pandemic” was a word that was rare in our conversation. Two months later we were using it constantly and trying to anticipate how to deal with a world of unknowns.
Take some time for reflection, and hopefully you will feel good about what you’ve accomplished and how you’ve progressed.
