Hiring For Growth
Challenge: The CEO of an IT consulting firm was suffering from the “entrepreneur’s curse” of spending too much time in the business, and not enough time on the business. The firm had grown steadily, but was not able to grow to the next level until key positions were created and filled, thereby freeing him to focus on strategic functions, including business development.
Solution: We benchmarked the positions that needed to be filled, identifying the behaviors and values that best fit the company culture. By defining the key accountabilities and expectations of a new key position, a project manager was hired who relieved the CEO of the most tedious responsibilities.
Outcome: A year after this hire, the firm grew revenues by over 25%, and perhaps more significantly, the owners were able to go on vacation without phoning into the office.
